私は現在、大学の学科専攻に沿ったテーマを基に卒論を作成している。題目は、Implementation of green supply chain management practice on firm performance(企業業績に対するグリーンサプライチェーン管理実践の実施)に関してです。

The supply chain refers to the series of processes involved in the procurement of raw materials, manufacturing, distribution, sales, and disposal of a product. Since a stable supply of products is essential for a company, it is necessary to know more about managing the entire supply chain (Rogers, dale S., & Larson, P. D.,1998). Sustainability in SCM meaning integrating financially and environmentally through practices into the life cycle of an SC s lifecycle.

Currently, sustainability is usually have understanding as "green" supply chain management (Shah, J., & Swami, S., 2013); GSC practices are expected to reduce energy use and emissions in processes such as production, procurement, and logistics. This is said to reduce environmental impacts and improve sustainability throughout the entire life cycle of products and services. Suppliers could also be encouraged to adopt environmentally friendly practices. They can also assess the overall environmental impact of their products and services.

In addition, compliance with environmental laws and regulations will be emphasised. Companies are expected to comply with legal requirements while enhancing environmental considerations. Consumers are interested in sustainability, and GSC practices may contribute to improving corporate image. Decarbonization efforts are underway around the world to halt the acceleration of global warming. In the U.S., public pressure, and the growing environmental awareness of consumers in general are forcing companies to adopt environmentally friendly practices in various parts of their operations (Ahtasham, 2023). The GSC initiative serves as a means for companies to reduce their environmental impact and improve sustainability. It will minimise emissions and waste generated during the production and transportation of products and promote environmentally friendly choices, such as the use of renewable energy. By adopting environmentally friendly products and supply chains, companies can comply with legal and regulatory requirements and reduce corporate risk.

Despite these incentives adopting sustainable practices, especially in the supply chain, has been a challenging. For example, according to the 2021 Supply Chain Sustainability Report, data on sustainable supply chains collected from over 2,400 respondents indicates that only 59% of companies have invested in environmentally friendly supply chain practices by 2020. This is significantly higher than the 59% of industry-leading companies that have invested in sustainable supply chain practices (Bateman, Alexis, Kellen, B., Ken, C., Jason, P., & Aniruddha, D. suhas, 2021). Environmental, social, and governance corporate performance has been a thriving area since it was introduced in the 2006 UN Principles for Responsible Investment report. Industry leaders such as Pepsi Co and Cisco Systems are included. For example, Cisco has introduced a Supplier Code of Conduct that make sure its suppliers to maintain a socially responsible supply chain. Its suppliers are required to disclose their report information and greenhouse gas emissions on the environmental impact of their operations (Supply Chain Sustainability, 2023). This is just one example of U.S. companies seeking to implement green supply chain practices.

Companies are beginning to focus on greening and sustainability of human, social, and environmental factors: at April 2021, 125 countries and one region have aimed to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050. China, the world's largest CO2 emitter (28.2%), has declared to the UN General Assembly that it will achieve carbon neutrality by 2060 (António, G., 2020). The approach of this paper is as follows. The next section raises the issue of environmental sustainability implications in the logistics industry, focusing on carbon emission reductions and energy efficiency improvements, while assessing economic impacts.


Economic growth through globalisation has generated enormous consumption, creating a virtuous cycle for logistics around the world. However, transportation, storage, consumption and the production of all these commodities have caused major environmental problems.

Recently, global warming caused by massive emissions of greenhouse gases is an environmental concern (Dekker, R., Bloemhof, J., & Mallidis, I., 2012). The logistics industry also faces the economic challenge of rising fuel costs. Rising oil prices and fluctuating energy supply and demand balances have caused soaring fuel costs to plague the logistics industry. Soaring fuel costs are a major challenge as they lead to higher costs and put pressure on the profitability of the entire industry. Sustainable logistics requires measures to reduce fuel costs, such as improving energy efficiency, introducing alternative energy sources, and optimising routes.

The main objective of this project is to conduct a root cause analysis of the current supply chain to identify how to solve this problem in order to drive the transformation to GSCM.

以下のように前半に関しては書き進め、教授、講師の方々からは上々の評価を頂いております。問題点は今後実施する、クラスター式のアンケートだと考えています。10の国と地域の会社から上記の問題についてどういった企業方針や個人的観点を募集するのかが難点だと考えています。しかし、この問題点を解消した先には、今後の物流に関しての企業の環境的理念や方針、進むべき方向性が見えてくると私は考えています。
