I have always had an interest in computers and graphic design, but for a long time I didn’t recognize these as the starting point for a career. I first came to Japan to pursue a passion for teaching. After 13 years, I was ready for a new challenge, and rediscovered technology and design.
Right now I work at a small ed-tech company. I was hired as a software engineer, but because of my teaching background and bilingual skills, I have had a chance to work on a variety of projects including:
・Create a user interface for a camera feature using TypeScript, React, and Node.js ・Develop Windows applications ・Plan and lead large-scale training workshops for users ・Promote products at major international ed-tech exhibitions ・Negotiate promotional partnerships with schools in Finland, Sweden, and Australia
I’m really proud at how much I’ve learned about software development, but also about communication and leadership. I am eager to find a workplace where I can learn from and together with people from a variety of backgrounds.
