As an R&D Engineer, you will be responsible for pushing the state of the art, conducting investigations, creating and validating prototypes, and developing technology that can be used in high-throughput real time web environments. Work details: -Collect and analyze low-level data, from the NIC all the way to the browser’s javascript runtime, to answer technical questions such as whether a browser is pretending to be a mobile browser controlled by a human, despite running on a cloud virtual machine. -Investigate and reverse engineer anything that may have sent, or altered, a web request; from mobile apps running in-app ads to tampered browsers that have been recompiled. Develop IoCs that can detect these threats. -Produce and test prototype implementations; transfer results of work to the wider Spider Labs production systems. -Document results primarily for an audience within the tech department of Spider Labs, with occasional external-facing output such as technical whitepapers and blog posts -Help train and educate other teams in the advanced aspects of fraud and security in general. Skills -A degree (or equivalent experience) in Computer Science or equivalent -Experience in a role involving R&D, especially in a cyber security field -Comprehensive knowledge of network stacks, Operative systems and Browsers and web & mobile ecosystems -Experience intercepting traffic & reverse engineering; Experience in generating of indicators of compromise for use in detecting anomalous activities -Self-motivated, with the drive and initiative to carry out projects according to plan, and the ability to quickly adapt in a fast-changing business environment Must to have -Experience with network packet filtering / processing -Experience with Javascript runtime environment and implementation details that differ across browsers -Advanced understanding of lower level programming in C, C++ or Rust -Advanced understanding of algorithms & operating systems
